Advanced Road Biking Routes

Gower to St. Joseph

Starting Point: Gower, Missouri
Route to Follow:

  • Begin in Gower.

  • Take State Route “H” west to State Route “E”.

  • Continue north through Frazier.

  • Turn left onto “H” and head toward Agency.

  • After crossing the Platte River bridge, proceed straight through the four-way stop onto State Route “FF”.

  • Continue on “FF” to St. Joseph.

  • Be cautious on U.S. 169 — a busy road with gravel shoulders.

Facility Type: Two-lane roads without shoulders (most of the way)

Terrain: Hilly
What You’ll See:

  • Scenic and paved country roads, rural farmland

  • Small-town Missouri communities and the Platte River

  • Avoid during peak hours due to traffic

The Hills of Highway V

Starting Point: Southside Complex (Hyde Park)
Route to Follow:
King Hill Ave → “V” → right on “JJ” → DeKalb → left on Hwy 116 → left on “V” → return to Hyde Park
Facility Type: Two-lane roads without shoulders
Approx. Miles: 40
Terrain: Hilly
What You’ll See:

  • Long, rolling climbs

  • Excellent route for developing climbing stamina
    Rest Stops: None – bring a second bottle

Tri-City Tour

Starting Point: Northside Complex (Krug Park)
Route to Follow:
U.S. 59 → “K” → Amazonia → “CC” → U.S. 59 → “H” → Fillmore → “A” → Hwy 71 → Rosendale (via Rt. 48 & “C”) → “E” → Savannah → Business 71 → Cook Rd → U.S. 59 → return
Facility Type: Two-lane roads without shoulders
Approx. Miles: 50
Terrain: Hilly
What You’ll See:

  • Long hills and isolated rural stretches

  • Historic small towns and farmland
    Rest Stops: None – be fully self-supported
