Guy B. Park Conservation Area
Paddling, Fishing
Guy B. Park Conservation Area, just a few minutes north of Platte City, is the kind of quiet hideaway that paddle sports folks dream about. Tobacco Hills Lake sits at the heart of the area—a calm, 16-acre gem managed specifically for trophy-sized bluegill, with plenty of largemouth bass and redear sunfish in the mix. A concrete boat ramp and a covered fishing dock make launching easy, and with only electric motors allowed, the water stays smooth and peaceful for kayaks, canoes, and SUPs. It’s even been used for beginner-friendly kayak clinics, so whether you're new to paddling or just looking for a no-stress float, this lake delivers.
Hiking’s not really the main draw here, though you’ll find a few mowed trails crossing the dam and linking up the parking areas. This spot is more about slowing down—birdwatching, casting a line, or catching that perfect morning paddle while the mist’s still lifting off the water. There are restrooms, a few accessible paths, and daily hours from 4:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., giving you plenty of time to enjoy the stillness. Fishing is allowed anytime in the designated areas, so if you’re looking to combine a peaceful float with a little angling action, Guy B. Park hits the mark.
